Baltimore City DPW, Bureau of Water and Wastewater, Surface Water Management Division

DPW’s Surface Water Management Division (SWMD) chief priority is the water in our neighborhoods cleaner. We reduce pollution by building rain gardens, restoring streams, repairing storm water pipes inspecting all development plans so they meet local, State and Federal requirements unded the Clean Water Act.  Our team of pollution control anylysts are out every day looking for sewer leaks and taking thousands of water quality samples.  Our engineers, project managers and consultants develop and construct on-the-ground projects.  SWMD builds and maintains solutions for improving the City and the region.

Bash the Trash Environmental Arts

For 22 years Bash the Trash has been building and performing on musical instruments built from recycled and reused materials. We focus on the science of sound and the environment, as well as the 3 R’s, litter reduction and sustainability. We also provide environmental storytelling programs and visual arts residencies and projects using found objects.
