NeighborSpace is a 501(c)(3)non-profit land trust  promoting more livable communities in Baltimore County’s established neighborhoods by acquiring land to serve as small parks, gardens and natural areas within the County’s Urban Rural Demarcation Line (URDL), where 90% of the County’s 816,000 residents live.

University of Maryland Home and Garden Information Center

University of Maryland Extension’s Home and Garden Information Center answers all of your plant and pest questions through personalized phone consultations and e-mail responses. We teach people how to garden sustainably- eliminating unnecessary fertilizer and pesticide use, composting yardwaste, growing food organically and replacing turf with native plants. Our Grow It Eat It program teaches you how to grow food organically and our Master Gardener program trains residents to teach sustainable gardening.

Cylburn Arboretum

The Cylburn Arboretum serves the general population, people and children of all ages. It is a 207 acre public garden and nature preserve with nearly 3 miles of trails winding through this mature piedmont forest as well as outstanding display gardens. The Nature Museum displays migratory and native birds. The Cylburn Arboretum Association (www.cylburnassociation.org) offers programming on the grounds including storyhour for toddlers, a jazz series for those afficiandos and a chamber music series. Market Day is one of our largest events each year offering several varieties of plants mostly grown in the green houses by Baltimore CIty’s Horticulture Division. It’s a great day to come out for a visit. Mark your calendars for the Saturday before Mother’s Day!

Irvine Nature Center

Irvine’s mission is to inspire appreciation and respect for the natural world, to increase awareness of environmental issues, and to encourage individuals to sustain Earth’s ecosystem. Our nature center is 116 protected acres, our exhibit space is in our LEED-certified building, and all of our events are zero-waste. We also have a green preschool program that uses nature as a way to prepare youngsters for kindergarten and beyond.
