CHILDREN IN NATURE PLAY SPACE:

Nature Play Space uses eco-friendly materials to captivate and encourage youth interaction with the natural world.  Making wood cut “cookie” animals, creating their own pathways, and swishing leaf “boats” down a pipeline with water mixed with a little imagination is all you need to engage a child.  We invite you and your children to help test out all the fun stuff we’ve got lined up!  Check out a few of the activities that will also be going on in this area:

RIDE BIKES AROUND THE RESERVOIR:

  • 12:00-4:30 p.m. At the Sundial Pavilion. Suggested donation $5.  Md. State issued ID required.  Bikes & helmets provided; child and adult sizes available. Enjoy a spin — or two or three!– around the Druid Hill Park Reservoir.
  • 12:00-4:30 p.m. Bike Maryland will be on hand to talk about bike safety.  Whether you are a commuter or like to ride for fun, it’s important that we all know the rules of the road!  Sign up to take a training course this year to become an official Maryland Bike Ambassador.

SAFETY CITY TOURS

Stop by Safety City to take a short 15-min tour. As you may know, Safety City is a child-friendly pedestrian and bike safety teaching facility located in Druid Hill Park close to Swann Drive and the reservoir (on Red Road.) Safety City promotes a healthy, active lifestyle for young children by offering free pedestrian and bike safety training onsite and in the classroom (Baltimore City schools by appointment).
