Ecoball

On Friday March 2oth, Baltimore Green Works, hosted its first annual Ecoball.  The Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park & Museum in Fells Point was the beautiful back drop for the evening.

The evening kicked off with The Ace of Cakes, Duff Goldman, delivering a beautiful spring cake.  A panel of local celebrity judges; Richard Gorelick from The Sun, local restaurateur Tom Creegan, coffee czar Rik Rudolf, Firefly Farms big cheese Michael Koche, and Duff sampled and picked their favorites from the awesome food prepared by the Baltimore International Culinary College who competed in a Top Chef-style challenge.  BGW’s first annual did not disappoint for those who love the dance floor.  The happy guests took full advantage of long-time Latin band, Mambo Combo.  Consensus is that a great time was had by all.  If you didn’t make it – you definitely missed this year’s best new party.  Maybe next year!

The 1st Annual Ecoball was sponsored by Annie E. Casey Foundation and Lorenz Inc., and was co-hosted by the Living Classrooms Foundation.  The event benefits Baltimore Green Work’s Sustainable Speaker Series.  Michael Pollan, author of “Omnivore’s Dilemma” and “In Defense of Food” successfully kicked off the series at the Enoch Pratt Free Library.
