Baltimore Green Week Begins, April 17-24, 2010!

April 17, 2010 ECOFEST – Noon-6 p.m. at Druid Hill Park

Baltimore Green Week’s kick off event, EcoFest, invites local food vendors, growers,

businesses and organizations that maintain a sustainable focus.  There will be plenty of activities happening so use this opportunity to try something new like yoga, take a bike ride around the reservoir, dance or sing along to June Star and the Frontier Dentists or take a moment to enjoy a back massage.  There will also be tours of the new Highlandtown Healthy Living Center from 1-4 p.m.

Celebrate the health of your city and your friends a EcoFest on April 17th!

April 20, 2009 City Day

Exhibitors will showcase Baltimore’s Sustainability plan by providing practical solutions for their “at home” needs.  Recycle bins will be available for purchase!  18 gallon, $5 and 25 gallon, $12.

April 21, 2009 Climate Change Day

What does coping with climate change mean for us locally?  Join us for an in-depth panel discussion of the science, politics and policy challenges of adapting to climate change right here in the watershed of the Chesapeake Bay.

April 22, 2009 Sustainable Food Day

Plant a tree on Earth Day! BGW is teaming up with Tree Baltimore and the Holistic Life Foundation to increase our tree canopy here in Baltimore.

Follow the food from farm to table! Talk to Lynn Ferguson of Ferguson Farms and Ray Brasfield of Cygnus Wine Cellars about labeling and consumer health issues related to the food we eat.

In the evening, join us for a discussion on the benefits of a plant based diet with dietitians:

  • Mark Rifkin of Preventive Nutrition Services
  • Melissa Mahoney of the Baltimore City Public Schools
  • Ruth Saunders of Moveable Feast

Chef Jason Wong of the Red Bamboo restaurant in New York will delight our palates with a cooking demonstration of one of his favorite vegetarian recipes!

April 23, 2009 Green Jobs & Green Building

Take a bus tour of new LEED certified building design and rehab projects happening in Baltimore City.  Architects and Project Managers will be on hand to give you a guided tour through each building.   RSVP required.

“Get in on the ground!”- Green Jobs in Baltimore 2009

Join us for an afternoon of presentations and discussion on what is happening with green jobs and the stimulus and how it effects us in Baltimore. The event will be moderated by Mark Steiner and include presentations by Green for All, CivicWorks and the Baltimore City’s Office of Sustainability.

In the evening, talk with Morgan State Architectural and Planning students about their sustainable design projects based on the Westport waterfront, Mt. Auburn Cemetery and the possibility and importance of urban agriculture in Baltimore City.

April 24, 2009 Sustainable Art & Greening for Good Panel

Green Art by local artists! Come out and enjoy this enviro focused reception and celebrate the creativity happening in our local community. In partnership with Towson Green Maps.

Greening for Good panel discussion brings together leading experts on green building and energy efficiency to answer your questions about how to lighten your eco-footprint by greening your home.  Refreshments will be provided.

Discusses how religious organizations promote the environment and social justice.
